Call for Citizen Architects for “Hwahong: The Great Architecture of Citizens”
at the 63rd Suwon Hwaseong Festival
We are looking for citizen architects to participate in “Hwahong: The Great Architecture of Citizens” at the 63rd Suwon Hwaseong Festival. We welcome your interest and participation.
○ Program Title: Call for Citizen Architects for “Hwahong: The Great Architecture of Citizens” at the 63rd Suwon Hwaseong Festival
○ Number of Participants: Around 500
○ Application Period: July 20 (Mon) – September 10 (Thu), 2026
○ Eligibility: Anyone aged 7 or older
※ Applicants born on or before July 20, 2019 are eligible.
※ Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a guardian for safe participation.
※ Tools such as knives and scissors may be used during the workshop.
○ How to Apply: Submit the online application form via Google Forms

○ Activity Details: Participants will take part in a community art workshop where they create cardboard architectural modules inspired by Hwahongmun Gate, one of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress’s landmarks, and work together to complete a large-scale architectural installation.
○ Activity Schedule
Module-Making Workshop: October 1 (Thu) – October 8 (Thu), 2026
· Morning session: 09:30–12:30
· Afternoon session: 13:30–17:30
※ The workshop will be held twice a day. Applicants may select available dates and time slots when filling out the application form.
※ Citizen architects must participate in the module-making workshop at least once.
※ Participation in only one session is allowed, and multiple-session participation is also possible.

· Build – Stay – Empty
○ Participation Requirement: Participation in the module-making workshop at least once
※ Participants may choose either a morning or afternoon session, and multiple-session participation is possible.
