Sedan Chair Race is a unique program offered by Suwon Hwaseong Festival, inspired by the sedan chair that King Jeongjo presented to Lady Hyegyeong-gung Hong for the royal parade to Hwaseong.
Korean cultural heritage is expanded into festival content driven by citizen participation, creating a lively sedan chair running competition created and enjoyed directly by citizens.
○ Recruitment Period: August 11 (Tue) - September 10 (Thur), 2026
○ Competition Schedule
- Preliminary Round: October 3 (Sat), 2026
- Final Round: October 4 (Sun), 2026
- Spin-Off Event Game: October 5 (Mon), 2026
○ Competition Venue: Road in front of Haenggung Square
○ Eligibility: Teams of five or more adults aged 18 or older
※ Participation is only available by team; individual participation is not allowed.
○ Prize Money: KRW 6 million total
- 1st Place: KRW 3 million
- 2nd Place: KRW 1 million
- 3rd Place: KRW 500,000
