What’s New This Year:
“Expanded to an 8-Day Festival”

Celebrating its 62nd edition in 2025, the Suwon Hwaseong Festival has expanded from a concentrated 3-day format into a full 8-day festival. This change reinterprets King Jeongjo’s historic Eulmyo Royal Procession of 1795, which lasted eight days, bringing it into the present day as the festival’s unique Festival Week — blending tradition and modernity, art and citizen participation.

From this year, the King Jeongjo’s Royal Parade, which had traditionally marked the finale of the festival, will instead open the event, following the sequence of the original 8-day royal procession. During the weekdays of Festival Week, programs such as academic forums, exclusive foreign visitor tours, and the Global Village will be held. Finally, on October 3 and 4, the festival will conclude with a grand finale — the main performance Suwon Fantasy “Yajo”.
