Suwon’s new light, “Saebit,” meets “Hongmin,” inspired by King Jeongjo’s spirit of compassion for people, opening the path for a festival that benefits everyone. 
2026 Suwon Hwaseong Festival is brought to life by citizens and visitors from around Korea and abroad, unfolding as the stage for “Saebit Hongmin.”
2026 Theme: Saebit Hongmin
This year’s theme, “Saebit Hongmin,” connects “Saebit,” Suwon City’s urban brand, with “Hongmin,” which reflects King Jeongjo’s spirit of compassion for the people, expressing the identity and vision of Suwon Hwaseong Festival where citizens and visitors from Korea and abroad come together.

“Saebit” symbolizes the new changes and future possibilities that Suwon aspires to,
while “Hongmin,” meaning “to benefit the people,” carries King Jeongjo’s vision of a compassionate society into today’s festival.

This year, “Hwahongmun Gate,” brought to life by citizens and visitors together, creates a special experience where everyone becomes part of the festival.
