Banghwasuryujeong (Yongyeon)
Set against Yongyeon Pond beneath Banghwasuryujeong in the northeast of Hwaseong Fortress, where King Jeongjo once enjoyed poetry and music with his mother, Lady Hyegyeong-gung Hong, a grand water performance unfolds. It takes the Joseon-era boat excursion Seonyu-nori as its motif, blending light, water, and sound into the show.

[Story]
"Beauty will make enemies tremble."
King Jeongjo, the 22nd king of Joseon, visited Yongyeon Pond, where the beauty of autumn was at its peak. Enchanted by the scenery of Banghwasuryujeong and Yongyeon, he slipped into a dream. In his dream, cranes encircled him, a boatman sang to the autumn moon, the pond transformed into a blooming garden, and a singer’s verses filled the night. Immersed in the sweetness of Seonyumong, Jeongjo awoke to the realization that 'beauty' itself was stronger than any fortress wall. Gazing at Banghwasuryujeong and Yongyeon, he hoped this place would endure as a 'garden of serene pleasures' for generations to come.
